The Bunker Grade Concrete Desk was the first piece to be designed and created at the Brutal Design studio.

The ‘Legs’ consist of two concrete and steel structures with a combined mass of 250 kilograms. Each leg has three distinct parts: the ‘feet’, an assembly of mild steel angle and flat bar joined together with salvaged M27 nuts and bolts to form an inverted ‘T’, this is bolted into threaded inserts that are set into the underside of the concrete block during the casting process.

The ‘Block’, a monolithic casting of fibre reinforced concrete, cast in the traditional way with formwork and tie bars, the tie-bar cones leaving their distinct conical holes.  The stand-offs, machined mild steel slugs bolted to the block are joined diagonally via a central connector ring, the stand-off assembly spaces and joins the two legs.
The table top, a sheet of 10mm toughened glass ‘floats’ above the behemoth leg structure on silicone rubber pads.

The XX Polished Concrete and Steel Coffee Table was designed to complement the kitchen and reception area installed by Brutal Design at The Lodge Space, a new Yoga studio with health kitchen in Surrey Quays, London. thelodge.space

Two coffee tables were required to sit in the two prime front window locations, so they needed to be substantial.

To complement the bulk of the concrete worktops and fireplace, the concrete slab for the table top was cast 75mm thick and used the same heavy steel I-beams to form the trestle legs.

The dimensions of the table top are 1220mm x 750mm and the height is 480mm.  The trestle legs are fabricated from 178mm x 102mm steel I-Beams.

‘The Grid’ Concrete and steel wall mounted wine rack consists of a laser cut hot rolled steel back plate with 6 individual cast concrete bottle support lugs.  The supports are bolted to the backplate via threaded inserts that are cast into the rear of the lugs.  Steel wire reinforcement is also cast into the supports and polypropylene micro fibres are also added to the mix.
