The Lander Brutalist Concrete Light is a minimalist pendant fitting with a hard edged industrial feel. The surface finish is a light grey raw concrete, smooth yet with the classic random blow holes left by air bubbles trapped on the mould surface during the casting process.
The Lander is cast with my lightweight formula concrete mix that reduces the mass by a third compared to a standard concrete mix, as a result it’s weight is just over  1Kg. The flex has a maximum weight carrying capacity of 2.5Kg.

The Lander 2 is a raw cast concrete pendant lamp with steel edging ring to the lip of the shade, a heavy duty steel eye nut, hand forged S-hook, steel chain, and vertical fin details to the upper lamp body. The edging ring is bolted into threaded inserts that are set into the concrete during casting.

The XX Polished Concrete and Steel Coffee Table was designed to complement the kitchen and reception area installed by Brutal Design at The Lodge Space, a new Yoga studio with health kitchen in Surrey Quays, London. thelodge.space

Two coffee tables were required to sit in the two prime front window locations, so they needed to be substantial.

The Lodge Space is a new Yoga and fitness studio. As well as the studios the Lodge Space is a healthy eating focused cafe.

For the kitchen and reception area the owners of the Lodge wanted to create a unique space with Polished Concrete Worktops and concrete elements to create a hard edged industrial feel. The client, an Architect and property developer, contacted Brutal Design with layout drawings and an idea of the look and feel he wanted, drawn by hand and to scale, proper ‘old school’.  So bringing his drawings into the 21st century, a 3D computer model of the kitchen and reception area was generated to produce visuals of the proposed design.  The concept incorporated Brutal Design’s signature mix of concrete and Steel.  With a layered up-stand structure of heavy steel I-Beams and concrete infill, cast in the traditional way with ply shuttering and tie-bars, the tie-bar spacers leaving the classic uniform grid pattern of conical holes in the surface.
